The Surprising Power of Liberating Structures (LS):
Unleashing Creativity to Solve Complex Business Problems
Are you charged with bringing people together to solve a problem or lead a change? Is part of your role trying to get the ‘best’ out of people and teams? Would you like to energise people to adapt and evolve their current ways to become more innovative? Liberating Structures can help make it happen and help you break through boring meeting norms.
You are invited to a highly engaging, experiential learning 3 day workshop, facilitated by the co-founder of Liberating Structures, Keith McCandless. Visiting from the USA, Keith will guide us through what for a growing number of organisations and communities has proven to be a revolutionary way of helping groups work together and get great things done.
What are "Liberating Structures"?
Liberating Structures (LS) are a set of 33 practical how-to methods to help you include and unleash everyone —particularly team members —in contributing their ideas in a safe, productive, and fun way. Liberating Structures introduce tiny shifts in the way we meet, plan, decide and relate to one another – and these tiny shifts are deceptively simple and easy-to-learn! No expensive investments, complicated training, or shifts in formal structure required.
Inspired by complexity science and developed by Henri Lipmanowicz and Keith McCandless, LS helps you address some of the most challenging aspects of working in groups and organizations to manage change.
Each structure offers an alternative to conventional ways of facilitating, leading, or working with groups. The specificity of the Liberating Structures makes it possible for anyone to take responsibility for inviting groups to make progress on and face up to their most entangled & complex challenges. Inspired by insights from complexity science, innovation methods, artists, and scientists, Liberating Structures simplify and make accessible many of the approaches usually reserved for specialist facilitators, creative designers, or charismatic leaders.
Who is this workshop for?
LS can be used by everyone at every level, from the executive suite to the grassroots. No special talents are required, mastery is simply a matter of practice. If you are someone who wants to:
- Establish more innovative ways to solve complex business problems
- Enable more productive and energising interactions with groups / teams
- Build change agility in their organisation
- Harness a group’s creativity and potential
Then this workshop is for you!
Read real and diverse LS user experience stories to get an idea of how LS can help you.
What will I get out of this workshop?
A working knowledge of LS can be developed in less than 30 minutes. LS are not best practices imposed on a whole organization but rather a set of structures from which individuals and groups can choose what suits them and the challenges at hand. By the conclusion of the three day workshop, you will:
Apply learnings immediately
Learn and immediately apply 20-25 seriously playful (and practical) methods, including 3 new structures not included in Keith’s book (for 1 day attendance, expect to learn 5-10 methods)
design and lead your own LS sessions
String together multiple structures to achieve a specific purpose or solve a problem with any size group
join A global LEARNING COMMUNITY of practice
Form a network of other practitioners who you can turn to for help and advice as you get started with using LS
inspired and energised
Learn with and from others, and have some serious fun
